Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves His children, too.
1 John 5:1
Can it really be that simple? John 3:16 says, "...anyone who believes upon Him will not perish..." So the answer is yes, it is just that simple! In fact, that's the first step in receiving your born again spirit, your born again life. The choice to believe that God created all; the choice to believe that Jesus is the Son of God; the choice to believe that Jesus lived on this earth as a human, was crucified, and resurrected; the choice to believe that God's Holy Spirit was left here with us when Jesus returned to the Father's right hand. And lastly, but most def not least, is the choice to believe that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells within you! It is truly a conscious choice, you have to make your mind up..regardless of what you may want to think or feel, that doesn't matter, you must ON PURPOSE choose to believe the Lord. Belief in Jesus is a choice, so choose Life. Yep, it's just that easy, just that simple.
So the follow-up may be, "Well what does it really mean to 'believe in God? or to believe upon Jesus'?" My best answer to those questions would be, 'To believe in God is to trust in Him..in your innermost, to learn His Word and His will, and to believe it. One decides that whatever the situation or circumstance they will look to the Lord (as well as His Word), listen for His voice, and believe/do what He says regardless of how things may appear to their carnal senses.
For instance, I was raised as an only child (and daddy's girl!) so I got into alot of messes. I was always tearing something up to see how it worked or inventing some catastrophic mess, when I was finished I would go to my daddy to fix it for me. I never had a doubt that he wouldn't take care of it! No matter the time of day, whatever the issue (big or small) I could count on my daddy to drop whatever he was doing and come to my rescue..I expected nothing less because that's who he was, not because I made him that way, but because that was just him. In that same way (only magnified a gazillion times!!!) does our Heavenly Father want us to trust Him and expect (believe) that whatever it is He will fix it, because He said that He would, that He did!
We may think we're fooling ourselves, but we cannot fool Him...
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
